...they'll gobble up the humor.
Booklist

Mayr's onomatopoeic turkey escapes are a nice pair with Rader's energetic watercolors.
Kirkus Reviews

This fast-paced romp is as much fun to read as it is to listen to. The simple text conveys just enough excitement to be suspenseful but not frightening (unless you're a turkey)...Good choice for storytime.

Littlebat's Halloween Story
Littlebat

Littlebat's Halloween Story
illustrated by Gideon Kendall
(Albert Whitman & Co., 2001)

Littlebat lives in the attic of a library. One morning he hears children, and a story being read from a book. Littlebat wants to see the pictures, too, but his mother warns him, "It's dangerous!" Poor Littlebat, will there ever be a time when he can get close enough for a look?

This story does much to dispel the myths that surround bats. Any librarian would be glad to have these creatures in the library (at least on paper).

Everything this book does, it does right, from the patient passing of time to the endearing mother who always knows what to do and say to make things better.
